Youth Culinary Training Program

Goals

Our Youth Culinary Training Program Seeks To:

  • Use cooking and mentorship as tools to nurture and guide youth toward positive life outcomes.
  • Inspire and empower youth to believe in themselves and their ability to build a sustainable skill set.
  • Expose youth to the preparation and cooking of multiple types of cuisine — from soul food to seafood to Greek food to sushi and more.
  • Arrange visits to other culinary institutes & business to expose youth to a range of culinary career opportunities.
  • Prepare youth to become job-ready, productive members of the workforce or engaged seekers of further education.

Structure

Program Participants Are 12-18 Years of Age And:

  • Work alongside experienced chefs to receive full-scale culinary training and have on-site employment.
  • Develop customer service skills through helping to fill orders and serve cafe patrons.
  • Learn restaurant-based business, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Learn food safety via lessons taught from the ServSafe Food Handler Coursebook.
  • Work together to become part of a like-minded group focused on setting and achieving positive personal & professional goals.
